Rich colour, historic character and a dramatic illuminated bar feature come together in the transformation of a former stable block into an elegant event space.

The Carriage House at Hotham Hall Estate, featuring a bespoke illuminated glass bar front against rich red walls and ornate pendant lighting.

At Hotham Hall Estate in East Yorkshire, the beautifully restored Carriage House brings together heritage architecture and bold contemporary design. Once a stable block, the space has been reimagined as an elegant bar, club room and event venue, where rich colour, decorative detailing and atmospheric lighting create a distinctive sense of occasion.

Deep red walls, ornate pendant lighting and patterned furnishings establish a warm, theatrical interior. At the heart of the room, a nearly five-metre-long illuminated bar provides a striking focal point, its dramatic red and black surface adding depth, movement and contrast to the surrounding space.

Developed in collaboration with Lite House Europe, the bespoke illuminated glass bar front features imagery specifically sourced to complement the venue's distinctive design aesthetic. Spanning almost five metres, the artwork was carefully mirrored and manipulated to create a balanced composition across the length of the installation, ensuring the pattern flowed naturally across the finished surface.

The result demonstrates the expressive potential of combining decorative materials with integrated illumination. Rather than simply lighting the space, the illuminated surface becomes part of its architectural character, complementing the richness of the interior while introducing a contemporary design element.

For Applelec Interiors, the project showcases the bespoke possibilities behind LumiStone, where imagery, materials and illumination can be tailored to an individual design vision. Beyond its curated collection of stone-inspired finishes, LumiStone offers the creative freedom to develop distinctive illuminated surfaces that respond to the character of each space.
